Southern Food Tour at Goodson Yard at the Goat Farm
Wow, this was so unbelievably fun! I had no idea what to expect. I had never heard of the Goat Farm but what a COOL place it is. It was founded in 1889 and has been converted to an awesome event space. It’s gorgeous out there.
The southern food tour consisted of pig roasts from Ford Fry (JCT Kitchen, No. @246 and the Optimist) and Kevin Gillespie (formerly of Woodfire Grill) who will have a new Open Pit barbecue place called “GunShow”. The Chicken Sliders from Buttermilk Kitchen were delicious. Gumbo by Adam Evans from the Optimist was great. Tamales by E.J. Hodgkinson from JCT Kitchen along with collard greens. The tamales were great, but incredibly spicy, which leads me to the Beer from Monday Night Brewing and cocktails by American Spirit Whiskey. They also had a band, Blair Crimmins and the Hookers, who I have heard about, but hadn’t heard their music. They were fantastic!!! Chad even bought a CD!
Here are some photos from the evening. I will be most certainly attending the next event.
